Work visas are temporary visas for foreign workers with an employment contract, for a term up to two years, renewable, and may become a permanent visa. The applicant must be a legal entity established in Brazil wishing to hire foreign workers. The normative regulation is in the Law n. ° 6.815 of 19/08/80, and the Normative Resolutions of the National Immigration Council n. ° 74 of 09/02/2007, and n. ° 80 of 16/10/2008.
The competent authority for consideration of the application is the General Coordination of Immigration at the Ministry of Labour.
Documents issued abroad must be legalized at the Brazilian diplomatic breakdown abroad and translated - when not written in Portuguese - by sworn translator in Brazil.
