RNE

The RNE – National Registration of Foreigner - is an ID number assigned to foreigners allowed to stay in Brazil as permanent, temporary or asylees. The RNE is done at the Ministry of Justice, through the Federal Police Department, being the foreign identified by the method of fingerprints. To the registered foreigner is given an identity document or CIE - Identity Card for Foreigners.

O estrangeiro admitido na condição de permanente, temporário ou asilado é obrigado a registrar-se no Ministério da Justiça, através do Departamento de Polícia Federal, sendo identificado pelo metido datiloscópico, sendo-lhe atribuído um número de identidade ou RNE – Registro Nacional de Estrangeiro. Ao estrangeiro registrado é fornecido um documento de identidade ou CIE – Cédula de Identidade de Estrangeiro.

Resolução Recomendada n.º 12, de 18/08/2010, do Conselho Nacional de Imigração

Considering the delay between the apply and issue of the identity card for foreigner, the Ministry of Labor and Employment has recommended to the Ministry of Justice, in 2010, the issuance of a draft document that would allow to the foreigners the exercise of their rights and obligations. Unfortunately, to the present day, the Ministry of Justice did nothing regarding that recommendation.

Considerando o prolongado tempo de demora de emissão do cartão de identidade de estrangeiro, o Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego recomendou ao Ministério da Justiça, em 2010, a emissão de um documento provisório que permitisse ao estrangeiro o exercício dos seus direitos e obrigações. Infelizmente, até à presente data, o Ministério da Justiça nada fez quanto à referida recomendação.
